What do Olympians eat? Former UK Athletics Coach explains the Olympic diet


The Tokyo 2020 Olympics is finally here whether you believe it or not. And while we are all glued to the screen, admiring the incredible physical feats of Olympians, let’s not forget what’s behind all this. To achieve such peak performance, most pro athletes go through years of rigorous training which includes countless hours of exercising and a strict diet.

But what do Olympians eat and how do they support their training with the correct diet? We asked Arj Thiruchelvam, founder of Performance Physique, about the topic. Arj has worked as a UK Athletics Sprint and Jumps Coach, as well as with Mac-Nutrition and Holland & Barrett. Below he shares his insight into how world class athletes fuel their performance:
