World Patient Safety Day 2021
Virtual Global Conference “Together for safe and respectful maternal and newborn care”
World Patient Safety Day 2021 is dedicated to “Safe maternal and newborn care”, recognizing the significant burden of avoidable harm that women and newborns are exposed to due to unsafe care, particularly around
the time of childbirth.
On this occasion, the World Health Organization (WHO) organized a virtual global conference that featured:
- keynote addresses by global patient safety leaders and advocates;
- global landscape and stories from the ground on maternal and newborn health and safety;
- panel discussions on prioritizing safety in maternal and newborn care on the journey towards universal health coverage, and the role of partners;
- launch of World Patient Safety Day Goals 2021.
