By Zoila Palma: On Wednesday, officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the COVID-19 variant that was first detected in India has now spread to over 80 countries.

In addition, the variant now makes up 10% of all new cases in the United States.

Several studies say that the variant is more transmissible than other variants.

The variant referred to as a “delta plus” was found to be the dominant strain in the United Kingdom.

The delta variant now makes up more than 60% of new cases in the U.K.

Health experts are advising the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves.

Meanwhile, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has designated the delta variant as a variant of concern in the U.S.
