OKC City Council Approves Resolution To Strongly Encourage CDC Mask Guidelines

The City Council in Oklahoma City approved a resolution Tuesday morning strongly encouraging residents to follow CDC mask guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The CDC now recommends wearing masks indoors and in public places regardless of vaccination of status.

The resolution passed with only two members voting no.

Councilman David Greenwell voted no and questioned the effectiveness resolutions, which has no binding mandate.

Councilman James Cooper wrote the resolution and said he wished the council could have something more binding.

On Tuesday, Cooper pledged to introduce a city-wide mask ordinance at the next meeting in two weeks, even though he doesn’t think it will pass.

Oklahoma City’s previous mask ordinance expired in the spring.
