President Yoweri Museveni is this Sunday evening expected to preside over the opening of the regional World Health Summit in Kampala.
The virtual summit according to Presidential Press Secretary Mrs Linda Nabusayi is taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The event is bringing together health professionals and other stakeholders in government from Africa and other parts of the world.
The event has been organized by the Makerere University and the Government of Uganda.
According to Charles Ibingira, the International President of the World Health Summit 2020 /2021 and Former Principal of the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University, the World Health Summit Regional Meeting at Munyonyo is “the first ever to be hosted on African soil.”
“I’m optimistic that the meeting will stir us all to think better and work harder to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, all of which pertain to health, whether directly or indirectly.”
The leaders will be discussing among others, the Health of the African Youth, Advancing Technology for Health in Africa, Infectious Diseases and Global Health Security, Stemming the Tide of Non-Communicable Diseases in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, Inter-Sectoral Action for Health
