Maine CDC reports 791 new COVID cases, no deaths


The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported 791 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, but no new deaths.

Hospitalizations inched up slightly Thursday, with 228 patients hospitalized at state hospitals — up three from the 225 reported on Wednesday. There are 31 patients in critical care and two patients that require ventilator care. 

The 791 new cases reported Thursday bring the pandemic total to 257,749. Of those, the state CDC described 185,979 as confirmed and 71,770 listed as probable. The state’s pandemic death toll remains at 2,337.

The positive test rate dropped to 10.4% on Wednesday, as reported on Thursday. The vaccination rate has gone up slightly this week to 77.7%.
