AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday that 569 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected across the state since Saturday, and that one more Mainer has died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll so far to 2,282.
The new cases bring the statewide since the pandemic began to 242,602, according to state health officials.
The Maine CDC also reported that there have been 79,253 breakthrough cases as of April 15.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics indicate a total of 4,683 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus since March of 2020.
As of Monday, 130 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, 25 were being treated in intensive care units, and three people were on ventilators.
Also as of Monday, 2,639,136 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered around the state. Of those, 967,232 were first doses, 993,685 were final doses, and 678,219 were boosters, the Maine CDC said.
