AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday that 464 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected across the state, but that no additional Mainers have died after contracting the illness, leaving the statewide death toll so far at 2,282.
The new cases bring the statewide since the pandemic began to 243,592 according to state health officials.
The Maine CDC also reported that there have been 81,435 breakthrough cases as of April 26.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics indicate a total of 4,704 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus since March of 2020.
As of Wednesday, 132 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, 33 were being treated in intensive care units, and three people were on ventilators.
Also as of Wednesday, 2,646,469 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered around the state. Of those, 967,559 were first doses, 993,880 were final doses, and 685,030 were boosters, the Maine CDC said.
