Knox County sees spike in COVID-19 cases, CDC reports Tuesday – Knox County VillageSoup

Knox County saw 17 additional COVID-19 cases since Saturday, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Tuesday, April 26.

There was one additional death and one additional hospitalization of Knox County residents reported since Saturday.

Since the pandemic began in Maine in March 2020, 6,118 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 83 have been admitted to hospitals, and 35 have died.

Statewide an additional 569 cases were reported since Saturday. There were two additional deaths reported statewide April 26, increasing that number to 2,282.

There were 15 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 since Saturday, with the number at 4,683 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The CDC reports 132 Mainers currently in the hospital. This is a jump of more than 30 in the past week. The peak was 436 in early January. Of the 132 hospitalized, 27 are in critical care units and five on ventilators. Sixty-nine-nine care beds are available in Maine.
