Johnson County reported 320 additional COVID-19 cases this week

Iowa reported 5,648 new cases of coronavirus in the week ending Sunday, from 5,637 the week before of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Iowa ranked 30th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week coronavirus cases in the United States increased 2.3% from the week before, with 795,621 cases reported. With 0.95% of the country’s population, Iowa had 0.71% of the country’s cases in the last week. Across the country, seven states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.

Johns Hopkins University has been getting data on an erratic schedule from Iowa, skewing week-to-week comparisons.

Johnson County reported 320 cases and zero deaths in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 343 cases and one death. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 40,414 cases and 156 deaths.
