Johnson County reported 148 additional COVID-19 cases this week

Iowa reported 1,688 new cases of coronavirus in the week ending Sunday, down 8.7% from the previous week. The previous week had 1,848 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Iowa ranked 39th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week coronavirus cases in the United States decreased 16.4% from the week before, with 250,233 cases reported. With 0.95% of the country’s population, Iowa had 0.67% of the country’s cases in the last week. Across the country, eight states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.

Johnson County reported 148 cases and three deaths in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 132 cases and no deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 42,429 cases and 167 deaths.
