Henderson County reported 56 additional COVID-19 cases this week

New coronavirus cases leaped in Kentucky in the week ending Sunday, rising 60.1% as 9,630 cases were reported. The previous week had 6,016 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Kentucky ranked 20th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week coronavirus cases in the United States increased 10.9% from the week before, with 770,895 cases reported. With 1.34% of the country’s population, Kentucky had 1.25% of the country’s cases in the last week. Across the country, 22 states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.

Henderson County reported 56 cases and one death in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 23 cases and zero deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 14,090 cases and 169 deaths.
