Remote vaccination rate lagging behind Darwin
Commonwealth figures show the vaccination rates in remote NT locations still lag behind the Darwin rate.
In Darwin, 43 per cent of people 15 and over have had at least one dose and 24.1 per cent of people are fully vaccinated.
Outside of the capital, 34.3 per cent of eligible people have had their first COVID-19 vaccine and 22.2 per cent of people have had both.
Ms Fyles said the Northern Territory had 80 remote communities and the government was responsible for about 50 of them.
She said efforts were underway to boost vaccination rates.
“We have been on the ground, I believe in every community,” she said.
“We certainly have seen people become less hesitant, we are seeing more people come forward and get vaccinated.
“It is a race, it’s a race against time to get as many Territorians vaccinated as soon as possible.”
In remote communities, where there is typically a younger population, the NT Government is administering just one vaccine: Pfizer.
