Fairfield County joined New Haven, Middlesex, Litchfield, Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties recently in having a high transmission level. New London County, as of May 26, remains as a medium transmission county.
Federal officials urged Americans last month to consider wearing masks again, and take other precautions, if they live in communities with medium or high transmission levels.
Hospitalizations in Connecticut seem to be on a downward trend, but still are much higher than what was reported last month, according to state data.
The number of COVID patients was a little higher Wednesday at 336, a slight jump from Tuesday’s 321. Just last week, Connecticut hit a recent peak at 383 — the highest the state has seen since Feb. 15 — but has been mostly decreasing since, data from the Department of Public Health shows.
On May 2, hospitalizations stood much lower at 230, according to state data.
Of the 336 COVID patients Wednesday, 98 — or less than a third — were not fully vaccinated, state data states.
The state reported 4,270 positive COVID tests this past week, or 10.73 percent of the 39,799 total tests conducted.
