- Confirmed cases of COVID-19 continued to edge up last week but dipped in Davidson County
- COVID-related hospitalizations are also increasing
- Test-positivity rates remain high
Confirmed COVID-19 infections increased slightly statewide but dipped in Davidson County last week, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of Saturday, the seven-day average of cases was 2,888 as of Saturday, compared to the previous week’s 2,842, the department reported. The Davidson County seven-day average was 235.4, down from 252.

Meanwhile, the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 continues to rise. The department reports that there are now 752 such patients, compared to 706 last week.
Tennessee again reported a modest increase in the percentage of people getting tested for COVID-19 who are positive for it.

Statewide, that percentage was 29.57%, up from 28.2% the previous week. Davidson County’s test-positivity rate increased slightly — 26.8% as of Saturday, compared to 25.3% the week before.
State public health agencies have counted nearly 2.19 million cases of COVID-19 in Tennessee since the start of the pandemic. Statewide, 26,947 people have died as a result of the novel coronavirus.
About 55.1% of Tennesseans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The national average is 67.2%.
