That said, screening for cervical cancer is a must. Doctors recommend getting oneself tested at the age of 21.
Tests can include:
Pap test: During a pap test, the doctor scrapes cells from your cervix, which are then sent to the lab for examination. It can detect abnormal cells in the cervix, including cancer cells and cells that show changes that increase the risk of cervical cancer.
HPV DNA test: A HPV DNA test includes the examination of cells for any infection with HPV viruses, specifically those that can lead to cervical cancer.
