CDC reports on early COVID-19 vaccine access, coverage for children age 5-11


An estimated 28% of children aged 5-11 received a first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine between Nov. 1 and Jan. 18, while 19% received a second dose, according to a report released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although more than half of vaccine providers were in areas with a high Social Vulnerability Index, completion of a second dose was about one-third lower in these areas, underscoring the need to strengthen education, outreach and engagement in these communities, the authors said.
