According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, only 36% of Latinos have gotten a shot versus 45% of white people. The new Spanish tool can help people find nearby vaccine sites, transportation to those sites and answer frequently asked questions. According to a recent Nielsen report, Hispanics are 57% more likely to use social media as their primary source of coronavirus information. However, Orlando Health’s Dr. Cristina Amado said there is one major problem with that. “Unfortunately, a lot of the voices that are being heard are very loud and unfortunately coming out with the wrong information,” Amado said. Amado is an infectious diseases expert. She said she hopes the new WhatsApp chat will break down the barriers of wrong information and distrust of the medical community. “I think it’s very important to get your COVID-19 vaccine. Not only for yourself, but your loved ones,” she said.
