The eviction ban is now extended to Oct. 3 for people who live in counties with substantial and high levels of COVID-19 transmission.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the new order on Tuesday.
House Democrats say the Treasury Department is working to help cities and states distribute more of the $46 billion in rental assistance which has already been approved by Congress.
So far only $3 billion has been distributed.
The National Low Income Housing Coalition says some states have made the application process too complicated, and other states don’t have enough staff to process the applications.
