Bangor city council talks CDC guideline updates

BANGOR — As COVID-19 masking regulations continue to shift from mandates to recommendations. The Bangor City Council will discuss the possibility of removing existing mask mandates for city buildings.

The governor’s state of emergency declaration ended more than a year ago yet mask mandates to city buildings in Bangor have remained.

The Bangor City Council could change that mandate to match more updated CDC recommendations.

The discussion will focus on if the council believes masking mandates in city owned facilities should continue if community levels in Penobscot County are still high.

Covidactnow.org  reports COVID-19 risk metric levels are low. Showing that 81.5%t of people in Penobscot County are vaccinated.

The council is expected to make a decision to possibly implement changes in the upcoming weeks.
