Burkina Faso

Around 18 November 2022: In Liptougou town, Gnagna province, Est region, a midwife was gang raped by suspected Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin’ (JNIM) militants. Source: ACLED

27 November 2022: Near Youba village, Yatenga province, Nord region, an IDP camp was attacked by suspected JNIM militants. One IDP was shot and wounded, and a vehicle, an ambulance, tents, and sheds burned, and motorcycles seized by the militants. Source: ACLED1

Democratic Republic of the Congo

01 December 2022: In Fulu, Butembo city, North Kivu province, a 4×4 vehicle belonging to the NGO IMA World Health with five staff onboard was hijacked by Mayi Mayi militia. Source: Radio Okapi

Ethiopia

15 November 2022: Update: In Tigray region, following the 02 November ceasefire agreement between the The Ethiopian Government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), an ICRC convoy arrived with 40 tons of medical aid via the Gondar corridor for the first time since last August, followed by a 15-truck convoy of WFP the next day. Kenya

Around 08 December 2022: In Kotulo between Elram and Falama areas, Mandera county, a driver and a vehicle transporting measles vaccine and food supplements to Falama health centre and rented by Action Against Hunger were hijacked by four suspected Al Shabaab militants in the early morning. 06 December 2022: In Kita village, Tenenkou commune, Mopti region, a health worker and two other civilians were injured and five civilians from the Tuareg and Fulani communities were killed in air-ground operations using helicopters reportedly by Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) and Wagner forces during the weekly market day. 07 December 2022: In Buur Xakaba town, Bay region, an NGO health coordinator at the district hospital was shot and killed by al Shabaab. Source: ACLED1

Sudan

06 December 2022: In El Nehoud locality, West Kordofan state, a group of masked men linked to ex-President Omar Al Bashir, armed with Kalashnikovs and sticks, stormed the El Nehoud Hospital, and severely beat a doctor in the Emergency Department. Uganda

As reported on 01 December 2022: In Moroto town and district, Karamoja subregion, Northern region, 10 community health workers who had come to town for a training session with an INGO, were among 300 men detained at a sports field by soldiers amid an aggressive disarmament campaign by the armed forces targeting cattle raiders. Detainees also included construction workers and hotel employees who were rounded up indiscriminately on the mere basis of being adult males, and thus, potential cattle raiders.
