COLORADO (KRDO) — Beginning today, Thursday, Sept. 29, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) will send text and email reminders to Coloradans aged 65 and older whose records in the Colorado Immunization Information System show they may be due for an omicron dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) authorized the new omicron dose earlier this month.
According to the CDPHE, these omicron doses have been formulated to protect against the BA.4 and BA.5 omicron subvariants dominant in Colorado and the United States right now.
Coloradans can find omicron doses at providers throughout the state, including 10 community vaccination sites.
The CDPHE said the text messages will originate from the number 45778.
The emails will come from cdphe.vaccine.registry@state.co.us.
