Lenawee County reported 222 additional COVID-19 cases last week


Lenawee County is in the medium community COVID-19 level, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Counties in the medium level are marked in yellow, counties in the low level are green, and counties in the high level are orange.

Lenawee County, like much of the southern part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, was in the medium community COVID-19 level at the end of last week.

Lenawee County reported 222 cases and three deaths in the latest week, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. A week earlier, it had reported 213 cases and one death. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 28,438 cases and 339 deaths.

In the medium COVID-19 level, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people at risk of serious illness from the virus wear masks while at indoor, public places such as stores and theaters.

Michigan reported 16,901 new cases of coronavirus in the week ending Sunday, down 8% from the previous week. The previous week had 18,375 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
