JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — This week the CDC says the nation is in a strong place to protect ourselves and our communities from COVID-19, loosening the recommendations to social distance and quarantine after being exposed.
Jackson County Public Health Director Dr. Leona O’Keefe says the Oregon Health Authority has confirmed that the CDC’s new guidelines align with what Oregon has already been doing in K-12 schools.
“The schools have already had all the kids back on campus for a while now, cohorting in its strictest sense has really not been possible because all of the kids have been back at school,” says Dr. O’Keefe.
She believes there will not be a huge change in local school districts when it comes to covid-19 protocols. “There are things we can do to help minimize that impact, being up-to-date on vaccines is key,” says Dr. O’Keefe.
Nearby school districts are getting ready for the start of the 2022/2023 school year, they will continue to follow Jackson County Public Health and OHA’s covid-19 guidelines.
