STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Parents remained concerned after a 14-year-old was stabbed in the torso outside Dreyfus Intermediate School in Stapleton.
The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on Monday as a large fracas broke out in front of the school.
The youth who was stabbed was said to not be a student at the school. A video shared withe the Advance showed the melee in front of Dreyfus.
One mom said her children were shaken up by the stabbing, which she said came on the heels of other fights at the school on Warren Street during the year.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week upped the alert status to Level 2 as the number of monkeypox cases worldwide topped 1,000.
Under Level 2, travelers are advised to take extra precautions such as wearing masks when they are in transit.
