PM Modi To Visit J&K On April 24 For Panchayati Raj Diwas
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on April 24 to mark National Panchayati Raj Day. On this occasion, he would address all Gram Sabhas throughout the country and also pay a visit to Palli Panchayat in the Samba district.
The Prime Minister will also launch and lay the groundwork for a number of development initiatives in the Union Territory costing around 20,000 crore rupees. He will dedicate the Banihal Qazigund Road Tunnel, which cost over three thousand one hundred crore rupees to build.
The 8.45-kilometre-long tunnel will shorten the road distance between Banihal and Qazigund by 16 kilometres and cut travel time by around an hour and a half.
European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen To Visit India On April 24
Ursula Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, will visit India for two days beginning April 24, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Tuesday. It will be her first trip to India in her present capacity.
Von der Leyen is set to meet with President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other leaders.
The Ukrainian situation, as well as initiatives to strengthen EU-India collaboration, are expected to be significant topics in her discussions with Indian authorities.
“India and the European Union share a vibrant Strategic Partnership which has been witnessing strong growth with wider and deeper co-operation in political and strategic, trade and commerce, climate and sustainability, digital and technology aspects as well as people-to-people ties,” the MEA said.
Ashram Underpass In Delhi To Be Inaugurated On April 24
The much-anticipated 750-metre-long underpass at the Ashram crossing in south Delhi will be inaugurated on April 24 after missing almost eight deadlines and being delayed for more than a year, authorities announced on Wednesday.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has completed the building of the underpass, with the exception of a few finishing touches, they claimed.
“The Ashram underpass will be inaugurated by the government on April 24. It is still unclear whether Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal or Deputy CM Manish Sisodia will inaugurate it but the facility will be completely thrown open for the public,” a government official informed PTI.
