The Day – CDC shifts New London County COVID-19 transmission level from substantial to high


The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday changed the level of COVID-19 transmission in New London County from substantial to high for the week of Aug. 3-9, making it the third county in Connecticut in the most severe category.

High transmission is 100 or more cases per 100,000 people, or a positivity rate above 10%, over the past seven days.

According to the CDC, there were 101.05 cases per 100,000 between Aug. 3 and 9, a 25.8% increase from the week before.

The number of tests increased 14% over the past week, and the positivity rate for the past seven days was 3.51%. New hospital admissions increased 21.43%.
