Victoria’s COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar was just on ABC Radio Melbourne Drive and answered some of your burning questions about Victoria’s new restrictions coming into effect at 11:59pm tonight.
Can I volunteer at an op-shop? Yes, if the shop is open, you can do it.
Can I move house? I need help from the family: No, because those people would have to go into the house.
Carpooling: can a friend pick me up to go somewhere? If you’re both wearing a mask it is possible but it’s better to avoid those risky behaviours right now, Mr Weimar said.
What about babysitting? You can provide babysitting services or caregiving to the elderly – providing it’s for critical care or for those who genuinely need care. But popping down to your parent’s place and putting up a shelf is NOT okay.
Can I have my cleaner or tradies in the house? Yes, they need to wear a mask and you should avoid having close contact with them.
Can a hairdresser do a home visit? Yes, but they need to wear masks and you should keep your distance where possible.
Community sport: What about a whole team in a small change room? Clubs are asked to keep good records of who’s there and they should be “COVID-aware”. They should stay outside as much as possible and limit time in enclosed spaces.
