Naval Base Ventura County requires masking up at all indoor areas

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – Naval Base Ventura County announced that masks are required indoors at all three bases associated with the military installation.

The three operating facilities of the NBVC installation: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island, will monitor weekly community levels and follow posted CDC recommendations for each level.

The Department of Defense requires all bases to follow the Center for Disease Control guidelines that require masking up indoors when the community level is at “High”.

Ventura County is currently categorized at the “High” level according to the CDC.

These federal recommendations and the current status of every U.S. county can be found by clicking this CDC link.

The notable increase in weekly cases of COVID-19 across the country is cited by the base’s public affairs press release on the new masking requirements.
