PM to host conference amid COVID-19 surge
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will host a media conference at 2pm today at the Diplomatic Centre, St Anns, where he is expected to address the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Trinidad and Tobago recorded 74 cases over the last three days. On Monday, Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram revealed that there has been a rise in the country’s COVID-19 cases, with as much as an 89 per cent increase in infections recorded over the past few weeks.
Meanwhile, Dr Rowley met with Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday.
Earlier this week, the prime minister announced that T&T will benefit from 140,000 vaccines donated from India and China.
The country is also scheduled to receive 33,600 Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines on March 31 via the COVAX facility.
