India becomes the second country in the world to report 5 million COVID-19 cases after the US. It has added a million cases in just 11 days. India reported 90,000 new coronavirus infections on September 15 and 1,275 deaths.

The World Health Organisation reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases — 308,000 new cases in 24 hours — on September 13. The three worst-hit countries — India, the US, and Brazil — accounted for over half of all the new cases.
