The Guernsey County Community Development has started construction on an 18-hole disk golf course on the property located beside Telling Industries on Larrick Road.

The CDC (Community Development Corp.) has started construction on a new disc golf course on 72 acres of land located beside Telling Industries on Larrick Road.

The idea for the disc golf course came about after Heath Dawson, a Byesville resident who helped construct the Jonathan Bye Memorial Disc Golf Course in Byesville, approached CDC director Ron Gombeda and asked for help in building the Byesville course.

“I was unfamiliar with the sport, but I’m the kind of person that would like to see any kind of development that gives people things to do,” Gombeda said.

Gombeda told Dawson the CDC would donate to the construction of the disc golf course.

After the completion of the course in Byesville, Gombeda happened to be in the park where the course is located and couldn’t believe the number of people who came there to play on it. He estimated 30 to 50 people were there to play.
